Overview

User-defined fields provide a method for tracking unique information about each customer and vehicle.
There are 6 user-defined fields for each customer and 4 user-defined fields for each vehicle.
Only one of each can be printed on customer documents (service order, service invoice, estimate, counter parts invoice).
You can specify which one is printed by clicking the radio button to the right of the field.
Only one of each can be printed.
You might wish to establish a standard order for the user-defined fields you use regularly.
There is no reporting in the system for data contained in user-defined fields.

Setting up field labels for user-defined fields

This is done at Configuration, System Settings, User-definable fields.
An unlimited number of field labels for user-defined fields can be created

User-Defined Fields Configuration Screen (for customer fields, with examples how how these fields can be used)

Once at this screen, follow this procedure to create new user-defined fields.

Select either "Customer Fields" or "Vehicle Fields".
Click the "New" button.
Type the name of the field you wish to create.
Click Save.

These field labels can be updated (e.g., renamed) at any time, but you must keep in mind that doing so will rename the label which is associated with any data previously entered. They cannot be deleted.
